Virginia – Call to Action

April 3, 2017

We need your help!  If you live in Virginia, Call or Email your Delegate and Senator before this Wednesday, April 5th!

Don’t live in Virginia, but know a knife user who does? Forward this page on to them.

HB1432/SB 1347 to allow Virginians to legally carry an automatic (switchblade) knife will be voted on April 5th to override the Governor’s veto.

For more details on this legislation that the American Knife & Tool Institute has been diligently working to pass, visit www.AKTI.org and type Virginia in the search box.

To find out who your Delegate or Senator is, go here: http://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov

Personalize and send this sample email or use this information when you call:

Delegate/Senator,

My name is XXX. I am a constituent, and my address is XXX. I am reaching out to ask for your support of HB 1432/SB 1347, which will be called for an override to the Governor’s veto this Wednesday, April 5th. HB 1432/SB 1347 will allow for Virginians to legally carry a switchblade knife for lawful professional or lawful recreational activity.

As it stands now, it is illegal for any individual to carry with them an automatic knife (also known as a switchblade) for any purpose, regardless of whether their occupational or recreational activity would be aided by the use of such a knife (i.e., roofers, HVAC installers, farm hands, knife collectors, etc.)  In addition, unintentionally breaking this law could result in a misdemeanor or a felony charge, depending on violation specifics.

The passage of this legislation will make a difference to me because XXX.

I ask you to override the Governor’s veto on HB 1432/SB 1347 to protect law-abiding Virginians who choose to carry their automatic knife/tool.

 Thank you,

XXXXXXX
