Entering a New Decade

December 30, 2019

All of us at AKTI hope your holidays have been filled with love, joy and good times with family and friends!

As we are about to enter into a new decade, we’re thankful for you and all of your support, making this second decade of AKTI’s existence filled with more successes for the knife community.

The decade began with AKTI proudly working with Rep. Jenn Coffey who led the charge to remove all knife laws in New Hampshire and enact statewide preemption.

In 2010 we started working with the New York Legal Aid Society. It took until this May 2019, but “gravity knife” was finally removed from New York’s prohibited weapons, eliminating years of confusion and knife problems plaguing New Yorkers.

New Hampshire was an example of a zealous and effective legislator working to accomplish something personally important. New York required the persistent, arduous efforts of several unlikely groups cooperating to remove ambiguity that worked against law-abiding knife users.

Most of our legislative initiatives fall somewhere between those two, but they all require a lot of teamwork, effort and time. We are very thankful for the supporting legislators, their staff, the members of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, unions and others who lend their assistance to our initiatives.

While we are proud of our legislative successes, AKTI is about more than knife laws and rights. We advocate for what is best for the industry and knife owners, sharing and providing information to help deal with problems such as counterfeits and import/export. We supply information so knife owners can be confident to carry and use their knives, and we encourage the next generation to be knife users.

AKTI has become recognized as the responsible, credible voice and advocate for the knife community, promoting knives as critically essential and valuable tools.

We value your time and our resources. We are committed to keeping you informed monthly, not bombarding you with emails. We need your membership and financial support, but will not nag for contributions. We sincerely appreciate each and every member, contributor and supporter! And, whether you are hearing from us or not, we are educating, informing and promoting knives as the valuable tools they are in our daily lives and to knife businesses.

Best Wishes for 2020 and Beyond!
