Special SOG Arcitech will be won by a current AKTI member

December 28, 2010

December 28, 2010 – In the midst of a busy SHOT Show schedule in Las Vegas, members of the American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI) will gather at the SOG Specialty Knives & Tools Booth #425 on Tuesday, January 18th for a special event.

SOG spokesperson, R. Lee Ermery “Gunny” will be signing autographs in the SOG booth on Tuesday and will pull the lucky winning name for a special AKTI SOG Arcitech knife at 4:00 p.m.

Individual members who renewed or joined AKTI between May 15, 2010 and December 30, 2010 are eligible to win the special 3-1/2 blade collectible folder generously donated by SOG. The San Mai exotic steel blade is etched with “AKTI.”

“SOG supports AKTI and its efforts to promote knife rights education amongst the industry, our consumers and our legislators. The collaborative efforts that AKTI facilitates are a unique benefit to our industry and have produced outstanding results,” noted Spencer Frazer, SOG President, a member of the AKTI Advisory Board.

The American Knife & Tool has been actively changing restrictive knife legislation since 1998, including laws in California, Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina and Texas. Last year the seemingly impossible task of changing the Federal Switchblade Act was accomplished by an AKTI industry-led effort, with help from other organization and many individuals, assuring that folding knives with a bias toward closure would not be classified as switchblades.

“AKTI is laying the groundwork for more knife law changes in various states to ensure that law-abiding citizens are not considered de facto criminals for carrying a tool they use every day,” reported Jan Billeb, AKTI Executive Director.
