CJ Buck Gives AKTI Presentation to State Legislators

December 1, 2011

125Farmington, PA (December 1, 2011) – CJ Buck, AKTI Legislative Chair, and President of Buck Knives, gave a presentation to state legislators last week at the annual Summit of the National Association of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC), asking for legislative support to help remove or rewrite knife laws in their states.

Also attending to represent the American Knife & Tool Institute and meet with legislators were Rod Bremer, AKTI Vice President and President of Columbia River Knife & Tool, AKTI President Bill Raczkowski, Category Manager, Gerber, Dan Lawson, AKTI Legal Contributing Counsel, and John Larkin, AKTI Legislative Consultant.

124During a breakfast meeting, CJ Buck reviewed the history of the organization, and described AKTI’s role in providing market information, knife definitions and education as well as working for the removal of all knife restrictions or clarifying inconsistencies. Several legislators had questions or were interested in discussing their specific states’ knife laws.

The NASC annual event is the largest gathering of state sportsmen and women legislators and provides a unique opportunity to present concerns to legislators who value pro-sportsmen agendas. At this year’s event there were over 50 legislators representing 25 different states.

“Telling legislators who are sportsmen that knives should not be restricted is easy,” noted CJ Buck, “They already understand what a valuable tool a knife is to the activities they enjoy.”

126The National Assembly Sportsmen’s Caucus is a network of state legislative caucuses and is managed by the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation working with Congress, governors, and state legislatures to protect and advance hunting, recreational shooting, fishing and trapping.
