Indiana 2015 Knife Regulation Bill

January 22, 2015

Another effort to ensure knife owners or maker does not have to deal with a multitude of knife laws within their state.  Let’s get this done in 2015!

Representative Peggy Mayfield
Rep. Peggy Mayfield

(January 22, 2015) – Yesterday Indiana state representative Peggy Mayfield (R-60) introduced HB 1634 which would prohibit political subdivisions (cities, municipalities, counties, etc. within a state) from:

(1) regulating the possession, carrying, transportation, sale, purchase, transfer, licensing, registration or use of a knife or the components used to make a knife; and

(2) adopting any ordinance, rule, or a policy concerning the manufacturing of knives that is more restrictive than any other regarding manufacturing of other commercial goods

The legislation would allow schools to adopt rules regarding the carry of knives on school property.

If passed, this bill will void any currently in place ordinances, rules or policies that regulate knives (except for schools).

Thanks, Representative Mayfield, for continuing this effort to protect the knife manufacturers and knife owners who live in Indiana – and everyone who may work or travel in your state.

This legislation has been referred to the House Public Policy Committee.  Contact members of the committee and ask them to support HB 1634.

Indiana State FlagThe Indiana General Assembly convened on January 6, 2015 and is expected to adjourn on April 29, 2015. Do not wait to contact your representatives and ask them to support this pro-knife bill!
