Custom Knifemakers Support American Knife & Tool Institute’s Fundraising Event

April 5, 2017

Knives donated by Ken Onion, D’Holder, Lucas Burnley, Brian Tighe  and other well-known custom makers will be auctioned to support AKTI and the maker’s favorite charity.

The American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI) is pleased to announce its second fundraising event will be held on Friday evening, June 2nd in Atlanta, Georgia.

So far thirteen handmade custom knifemakers Tony Bose, Russ Kommer, Steve Jernigan, Tom Veff, Lucas Burnley, Brian Tighe, Ken Onion, D’Holder, Ed VanHoy, Ken Steigerwalt, Alan Folts, Jesper Voxnaes, and Robert Carter have committed to donate a knife to be auctioned during the Blade Show at the Renaissance Waverly, Atlanta.

“We’re excited about the many AKTI supporters eager to donate to our second fundraiser,” said event chair Rod Bremer of CRKT.  “At the event knives from custom makers will be available on a live auction, giving people who otherwise would not have the opportunity a chance to own a knife by one of these great makers.”

Knives will be auctioned and 50% of the proceeds from the custom knife will go to the charity of maker’s choice. The remaining 50% will go to AKTI to help fund legislative and educational efforts.  There will also be several specialty knives donated by company members offered as silent auction items.

The original concept was conceived by a well-respected knifemaker to “give back” something to the knife industry that has been very good to him for many years and to AKTI for making a difference in ensuring his ability to make and sell his creations.

“The American Knife & Tool Institute quietly and diligently works for everyone in the knife community promoting knives as essential, valuable tools, working with legislators at the state and the federal level to clarify knife laws, and providing valuable educational information,” said CJ Buck, AKTI President.  “We cannot thank these makers enough for their tremendous support.”

Details about the makers and the donated knives are available at www.FREETOCARRYorg.

Tickets to attend the Friday evening event, June 2nd from 7 pm – 9:30 pm can be reserved now.

Custom knifemakers can submit a donation using AKTI-Free-to-Carry-Knifemaker-Donation-Form.

Company members can submit donations using AKTI-Free-to-Carry-Company-Donation-Form.
