CRKT® Introduces Two Innovations

February 15, 2021

and a Full Lineup of Edged Tools in 2021

It’s another year of innovation at CRKT® with Assisted Opening and Field Strip Gen II models hitting the market in 2021.

Ken Onion introduced the knife community to Field Strip Technology back in 2008, with the CRKT® Homefront™.

“For years, I thought about a way to come up with a knife that you could take apart easily with no tools,” reflected Ken. “I believe Field Strip technology in the Homefront™ is a step in the right direction.” That was then.

Together, CRKT® and Ken Onion have raised the bar on themselves with Field Strip Gen II. This fresh retooling of a game-changing innovation is poised to forever alter knife performance in the toughest, grittiest conditions imaginable.

How Field Strip Gen II Works –

Slide the lever up to disassemble, easily releasing the knife into three components. Place the blade between the two handles in the closed position and slide the lever down to reassemble.

The second innovation coming to the 2021 CRKT® lineup is Assisted Opening, also from the creative mind of Ken Onion in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Ken toiled over technology that would deploy the blade of a folder at super-high speeds, while still remaining legal to carry in most everyday situations. Assisted Opening is the answer. It not only keeps the knife safely closed but when deployment is manually initiated partway through the rotation, the blade swings open at an impressive speed for a simple, powerful, one-handed opening. Assisted Opening technology revolutionized the way spring-assisted knives work and has become the most popular and widely respected mechanism of its kind. Period.

How Assisted Opening Works –

The knife is held securely closed in your pocket, but initiate the deployment, and partway through the rotation the blade swings open at an impressive speed for simple, powerful, one-handed opening.

CRKT® is set to release more than 50 models in 2021 that feature Field Strip Gen II, Assisted Opening, and other CRKT® innovations; proving this organization’s unrelenting commitment to giving customers Confidence in Hand®.
