We need your help! If you live in any of the following states: Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Dakota, Washington, or Wisconsin, we need you to contact your Senators and let them know you support the Interstate Transport Act.
Under current U.S. code, lawful firearms owners are allowed to transport their firearms legally in both the state of origin and the state of destination, along with the states in between, provided the firearm is properly stored and in accordance with all federal restrictions. This protection was created in 1986, when Congress passed the Firearms Owners Protection Act (FOPA). Prior to this legislation, gun owners had no way to legally travel to and from states with legal firearms.
However, no such protection exists for knife owners. The Interstate Transport Act would create a federal protection for knife owners, allowing legal interstate travel with knives, provided the knives are transported to and from states where the law allows possession of said knives, and they are transported in locked containers.
The Interstate Transport Act will be before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation this fall, and we need your help to show your Senator that their constituents support this bill!
Please email us at email@example.com with your name and the state in which you live to receive contact information and a draft letter for your Senator. We will help you make sure your email is read by the right staff, and your voice makes a difference!
