Seminar on Handling Law Enforcement Encounters

  • Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 4 p.m. in Room 109
  • Presented by Chris Conte, Legislative Counsel, NRA Institute for Legislative Action

Proper communication and understanding of the culture and expectations of both law enforcement and the law abiding citizen with a knife is crucial to avoiding unnecessary conflict. During interactions with civilians law enforcement frequently view knives as the most commonly possessed “weapon” and individuals as “armed,” posing a threat to their personal safety and others.

Law-abiding citizens believing their knife is an essential, valuable tool need to know how to behave and respond to law enforcement to avoid legal problems and what to do to protect their liberties. Mr. Conte will present an overview of the legal and practical dynamics of how such encounters can go well or go poorly based on case law and his work as a certified law enforcement instructor on encounters with civilians carrying handguns.

Counterfeiting Issues Facing the Knife Making Industry

Counterfeiting of all products is at a all-time high with inferior, knocked-off products eroding brand recognition, causing customer service nightmares, consumer confusion and loss of business. This AKTI presentation will review the issues and economic impact to the industry, explain short-term options, and explore longer term solutions.

  • Seminar by invitation, limited seating. Contact Us if you have an interest in being included.
  • Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 102

AKTI Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of members of the American Knife and Tool Institute will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 10:45 a.m. in Room 102.
