About Lucas:  Lucas Burnley is founder and principal of Burnley Knives. For him, knives are a personal expression of independence, self-reliance and fun – ideas and philosophies he began formulating as a knife-toting 7-year old. He designs primarily in a style that he considers to be “contemporary tactical,” blending  clean modern lines with tactical origins. Above all, he believes that utility shouldn’t come at the cost of beauty. He loves many aspects of the craft, but is happiest conceptualizing and prototyping new ideas. Along with his custom line, Lucas works closely with production companies Böker and CRKT, making his designs available to a wider audience.

May Flat Scale Medium TNT

Flat Scale Medium TNT:  Tom Mayo’s custom Flat Scale Medium TNT features a Reptillian Damascus blade by Rob Thomas and a pouch that was hand made by Tom’s daughter.

About Tom:  Tom makes all of his knives via the stock removal method, using either CTS-XHP or CPM 154CM (Particle Metallurgy Steels) or the super alloy Stellite 6K. He favors XHP for knives that are going to be used very hard, as it remains very tough at high hardness.  All fixed blade knives come with a hand fitted custom leather sheath. Tom’s goal in knifemaking is to make a tool out of the most advanced materials available, with a fit and finish on par with the best knifemakers in the country.  Tom is no longer taking orders.

Pronghorn

Pronghorn:  The Pronghorn by Ed Fowler features a hand forged drop point blade with visible temper line and hidden tang construction. The handle has an engraved brass guard and sheep horn handle. Includes a brown leather belt sheath.

Ed Fowler

About Ed:

I have been making knives most of my life, seriously from late 70’s. Studied under Bill Moran, then been learning on my own along with other makers from times past until now. Many have contributed to my knowledge. Ultimate performance from 52100 steel has been my quest. Three metallurgists assisted me in our quest that still continues. The aspects of my knife I seek to achieve are Safety by design to the user, scabbards that protect the knife from loss and owner from harm. Performance is our quest and in that search we have achieved a #17 and smaller grain size in a steel that is forged and multiply heat treated and quenched to be strong, tough, and easy to sharpen. Quality control is sought by testing every blade edge for its ability to flex without chipping and construction of a blade that is very strong and tough. Cutting ability is tested on every knife we make by cutting hemp rope. No blade that fails will be rejected. All knives are absolutely guaranteed to the client’s satisfaction for my life time. I use the terms I and we interchangeably because many makers from Stone Age to today have and continue to help those of us who have joined the HEPK (Organization of the High Endurance Performance Knife). No one man can discover what many past makers have learned but together we can bring many of her best qualities to life again.

It is paired with a skeletonized handle featuring full stainless steel liners, textured carbon fiber/G-10 laminate scales, lightweight, open-backed construction, and a reversible, tip-up pocket clip for ambidextrous carry.

The Smock’s most unique feature, however, is the button release on its high-strength Compression Lock mechanism, which allows the knife to be safely and easily closed without placing your fingers near the blade’s edge. Slim, innovative and distinctly different, the Smock truly reflects Kevin Smock’s unique approach to knifemaking.

Helle Viking: The Viking is a revision of a Helle classic that was produced as part of a fund-raiser for an around-the-world- cruise of a Viking longship. The knife is notable not only for its historical interest, but also as an excellent all around utility knife.
