AKTI Supports NH HB 544 sponsored by Rep. Jenn Coffey

Positive knife legislation in New Hampshire:

June 9, 2011 – Governor Lynch signed signed Rep. Jenn Coffey’s sponsored knife rights pre-emption bill, HB544. It takes effect in 60 days at which time, no city, town, or other political subdivision can ban the ownership, possession, sale, or carry of knives.

May 18, 2011 – HB 544 passed both the New Hamphire House and Senate unanimously and is headed to Governor Lynch’s desk for signature.

HB 544 introduced by Rep. Jenn Coffey and others passed the New Hampshire House and is now being considered in the Senate.

April 20th, 2011 – The New Hampshire Senate Judiciary Committee will hear the bill. AKTI approves of Rep. Jenn Coffey’s bill and has provided supporting information about knife use.

New Hampshire Residents: Please email these Senators and ask for their support of NH HB 544. Be sure to thank them for their consideration and emphasize that you believe laws should be based on actions, not objects such as knives.

This bill will add knives to the laws of New Hampshire that already preempt firearms from being regulated by cities and towns, reserving that for the state.
