CRKT® Launches New Altai Fixed Blade Hunting Knife in Partnership with Spartan Precision Equipment

September 14, 2026

Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT), a brand synonymous with innovation, craftsmanship, and intelligent design,  introduces the Altai fixed blade, a practical, purpose-built hunting knife engineered to take on the various conditions and tasks hunters face throughout their experience in the field.

Developed in collaboration with Spartan Precision Equipment, makers of the most trusted stabilbility shooting platforms in the industry, the Altai was inspired by Spartan founder Rob Gearing’s backcountry hunts in Mongolia’s Altai mountains. The knife combines CRKT ingenuity and Spartan style throughout, from the carbon fiber-inspired handle texture and high-visibility orange that make it easy to spot when light fades, to the signature Spartan head on the knife’s handle pins.

“The work a hunter faces in the field is so much more than what happens after a successful shot,” said Rob Gearing, Spartan Precision Equipment founder. “In designing the Altai, we wanted to deliver a sensible tool that could carry the user throughout their journey from planning and preparation, to scouting and of course, field dressing. But just as much, we wanted to create a knife that would meet and match the unexpected challenges that inevitably come when hunting.”

The Altai features a blade just under four inches long, an ideal length for control and easy reference when field dressing an animal. The blade is crafted from 14C28N steel with a durable ceramic coating for corrosion resistance, toughness, and edge retention. A striking notch on the spine pairs with the included ferro rod to help get fire started when the day runs long, while the included ceramic rod makes backcountry touch-ups simple and fast.

Everything stores securely in the included thermoplastic sheath, equipped with reflective orange paracord that’s used on the lanyard as well as on the pulls for the ferro and ceramic rods, making essential tools easier to find when visibility drops. Jimping on the finger choil, spine, and rear handle provides added grip and tactile reference in hand, while the ringed pommel delivers a swift, secure draw, even with gloves on.

Retail price is $85.
