AKTI Announces Kansept and Tenable as New Members

June 26, 2026

The American Knife and Tool Institute (AKTI) is very pleased to announce that the Kansept and Tenable brands have joined as new Premier Members.

Backed by more than 20 years of OEM experience, the two knife brands are deeply rooted in the everyday carry and tactical knife markets. They operate under a parent-and-subsidiary relationship out of Yangjiang, China, a city known globally for its strong cutlery heritage.

Kansept was launched in 2020 by knife industry veteran Kim Ning. Tenable is a subbrand of Kansept that delivers affordability without compromising on quality.

“As we look to build a strong foundation with our brands in the U.S., we know that becoming AKTI members carries weight with consumers and others in the knife industry,” said Ning. “As our two brands continue to grow, we recognize the importance of an organization that works to address the most pressing issues affecting our business.”

AKTI Executive Director Jan Billeb welcomed the partnership, noting that the additional support bolsters the organization’s efforts to advance state and national knife law reform and advocate for key industry interests.

“The addition of support from emerging consumer-focused brands like Kansept and Tenable highlights the momentum within the industry and underscores trust in AKTI’s leadership to advocate effectively for knife owners, manufacturers, and retailers,” said Billeb.
